Singapore and Cambodia agree to explore more areas of cooperation

SINGAPORE : Singapore and Cambodia have agreed to explore more areas of cooperation, such as tourism.
This follows Cambodian Premier Hun Sen's official visit to Singapore.
Mr Hun Sen, who is in Singapore on a three-day official visit, was given a ceremonial welcome at the Istana.
Then he met with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, and the two leaders affirmed the close ties the two countries share.
They agreed that Singapore and Cambodia can explore other areas of cooperation, including tourism.
The leaders also exchanged views on developments in the region and reaffirmed their close cooperation in ASEAN, and other international forums.
The Cambodian leader also attended a lunch hosted by Trade and Industry Minister Lim Hng Kiang and the Singapore business community.
Mr Lim said bilateral trade continued to grow in the first six months of this year, pushing total trade to S$1.3 billion.
This is a 60 per cent increase over the same period last year.
Singapore is Cambodia's eighth largest foreign investor.
The Cambodian Premier also visited the Marina Barrage during his trip.
In the afternoon, Mr Hun Sen called on President S R Nathan at the Istana.
They welcomed the strengthening of ties between the two countries.
Prime Minister Lee hosted a dinner in honour of the Cambodian leader on Monday evening, during which they continued with their discussions.
The wives of both leaders were also present at the dinner, as well as officials from both countries.
